|GHOSTS OF THE PRAIRIE :
If there is any state that seems to embody the ideals and the traditions of the Old South, it must be the state of Louisiana. There are many places in the south which have changed over the years. Many of the old houses have fallen into decay and ruin, or have been torn down in the name of so-called progress; the forests that once held tales of phantoms and voodoo have been replaced by houses and suburbs; the swamps that guarded strange secrets that you were better off not knowing about have been drained and paved into parking lots....
And yet in Louisiana, the vast acres of wetlands and spooky woods still remain, along with the old houses that seem to harbor more than their share of ghosts!
You will discover a lot of these old plantation houses in the section to follow.... stories of tragedy, death, murder and destruction.... tales which seem to give birth to legends and to ghosts!
